Sculpture Care
Tips to care for your wood sculptures
Sculptures are one of a kind pieces of art that look great displayed in and around your yard. To keep it in pristine condition it does require a certain amount of maintenance. Below are a few tips on how you can care for your sculpture.
- Keep out of direct sunlight or, if kept inside, away from a direct heat source.
- Keep from direct contact with the ground (it will wick water) or the floor (cedar can stain).
- Finish with several coats of good deck oil that contains an algaecide and UV inhibitor. Apply three coats after the surface dries (about 1 week), and then once a year or as needed.
- It is natural for green wood to have some cracking as it dries. If you follow these instructions it should keep cracking to a minimum.
We use Cabot Wood Toned Deck & Siding Stain in Natural Tone.
